HISTORY

President: CLIFF GRIFFIN
The idea of a Connecticut Chapter of the National Guardsmen originated out of friendship of three former schoolmates, Sam Bullock, a member of the Washington Guardsmen, Frank Elliott and Nelson Johnson. In 1952 during a visit with Frank and Nelson, Sam suggested the formation of a Connecticut chapter, under the sponsorship of the Washington chapter. A group of friends in Connecticut communities from New Haven to Greenwich were convened with the first meeting being held in November 1952. The first officers elected were Frank Elliott, President; Nelson Johnson, Vice President; and John Lancaster, Secretary-Treasurer. The Connecticut Chapter was admitted to the National Association Of Guardsmen in 1953.
